Associate

Members who would like to volunteer and assist on any of the following committees may contact the appropriate committee chairperson.

    Legislative Committee
  • Keep current on current issues that pertain to the food industry
  • Networking opportunities with State Legislators
  • Sit in on open legislative sessions
  • Occasional travel to Austin between January and May of each year while in session
  • Addresses the membership of imported issues pertaining to the food industry
  • Recruit volunteers to assist
    Website Committee
  • Keep website current with relevant information
  • Post information received from committees
  • Keep Calendar of Events current and up-to-date
  • Recruit volunteers to assist
    Scholarship Committee
  • Work with University departments to arrange scholarship deadline
  • Travel to both universities for interview (November)
  • Review scholarship applications
  • Interview scholarship applicants
  • Determine the amount of scholarship for each student
  • Present scholarship recipients awards at Annual Meeting
  • Introduce scholarship recipients to attendees at Annual Meeting
  • Recruit volunteers to assist
    Auction Committee
  • Solicit members for donations for silent, live and theme tables
  • Solicit non-members for donations
  • Sell sponsorships for theme tables and live auction
  • Create power point presentation for auction
  • Create auction program
  • Shop for theme tables and some live auction items
  • Organize auction at the annual meeting
  • Attend auction planning sessions throughout the year
    Finance Committee
  • Should have a knowledge of finance
  • Oversees investment changes in the Scholarship and Operating accounts
  • Communicates with our investment advisor
  • Reports to the Board regarding investments
  • Recommends investment opportunities and changes as necessary
  • Complies with TFPA investment policies
  • Reviews financial documents
    Membership Committee
  • Increases membership by soliciting prospective members
  • Informs website and staff assistant of member changes
  • Serve as hosts at the new member reception
    Associate and Affiliate Member Committee
  • Solicit sponsorships for cocktail reception at annual conference
  • Solicit sponsorships for annual business meeting
  • Meet with associate and affiliate members to see how they can best be served
  • Schedule agenda and meet with associates and affiliate members during the annual conference
  • Inform website committee of relevant information or upcoming seminars of importance to processor members
  • Liaison between associate and affiliate members to the board for suggestions and recommendations to make TFPA a stronger organization
    Nominating Committee
  • Past president heads up the committee
  • Nominates candidates to the board for upcoming election of Board of Directors
  • Listens to recommendations from other committee chairs and the Board of Directors
